Common Student Plateaus

Even capable students often lose marks due to specific technical gaps. Do you recognize these patterns?

warning

Vague Analysis

Losing marks for general comments like "it makes the reader imagine" instead of precise writer's craft analysis.

Paper 1: Reading Strategy

Precision over Generalization

Paper 1 is not about "feeling" the text; it's about data retrieval and linguistic analysis. We teach a score-first strategy:

1

Explicit & Implicit Meaning

Selecting the exact evidence required, not just "something relevant".

2

Writer's Effects (The Big Marks)

Moving beyond "it shows..." to analysing imagery, connotations, and sentence structure.

3

Summary Control

Concise writing that stays within the word count while capturing all 15 content points.

Paper 2: Writing Mastery

Structure creates Freedom

We remove the "writer's block" by providing robust frameworks for both sections of Paper 2.

feed Section A: Directed Writing

We teach the 'PLAN in 5 lines' method. Learn to adopt the correct voice (speech, letter, article) and evaluate ideas critically rather than just repeating the text.

history_edu Section B: Composition

Choose your weapon: Descriptive or Narrative. We provide zoom-in/zoom-out structures for Description and story arc templates for Narrative to ensure you finish on time.

Bonus: Coursework Guidance

For Route B students, we offer specialized feedback cycles for your Draft 1, 2 and Final.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you cover both Core and Extended tiers?expand_more

We focus primarily on the Extended tier (Grades A*-E) as this is what most colleges require. However, our Foundation track supports students who may be sitting the Core paper to build their skills up.

How is homework graded?expand_more

All homework is marked according to the official Cambridge 0500 mark scheme. You receive a numerical mark and specific actionable feedback on how to reach the next band.

Can I join if my school does Coursework?expand_more

Yes! About 30% of our students are on the Coursework route (Component 3). We provide specific sessions to help draft, edit, and refine coursework pieces, though the final submission must be to your school.

What happens in the trial class?expand_more

The trial is a full 60-minute lesson where we tackle a specific Paper 1 or Paper 2 skill. It gives you a chance to experience our teaching style and receive immediate feedback on your writing.
